Diwali.

Not that long ago my class and I were leaning about diwali, Diwali is an indian holiday that lasts for five days, my teacher gave us two choices to do the art outside with chalk or do it inside with a peice of paper.

 

 

Parihaka Feather.

 About 2 weeks ago my class and I were learning to identify the main points, If found it challenging to learn about parihaka because that was the first time i had ever heard of it, I didnt know much about parihaka but I learnt alot more. next time I would proabably change the words on my feather and add more words onto it

Self Portrait Art.

 Last week in class my class and I were learning how to mix colours, First we took a picture of ourself and printed it out, we then got a lamanating sheet and put our picture inside of the lamanation sheet. We then proceeded to trace our faces over top not on the inside of the lamanation sheet (We did it carefully because we were using sharpie) After we traced our face we took out our pictures of our face from the inside. We then flipped the lamanation sheet inside out making sure we didnt paint on the wrong side, We then mixed colours to make our skin tone. Little bit of yellow and red with white. We used the tiniest bit of black, white, yellow & red to make our hair colour and our eyebrow colour. we used our left over skin tone and added some red and white to match the colour of our lips.

Service Poster

My classes value this term is service, Me and my class have been learning about how we can show service to others. First my class used a jam board to write down our ideas, we were learning what  service looks like, feels like & sounds like. Then we used canva to make a poster. I really enjoyed using canva i liked choosing my template. I didnt really find anything hard because canva was easy to use.

Social Justice Week.

 Do you know what social justice week is? My class and I were learning about social justice week and  beatitiudes, We learned that beatitiude are the many blessings that was told by Jesus in the bible (Matthew 5:3-10) , this was the poster I had created with the beatitude versenates with me, I chose this beatitude because it inspires me to be a peacemaker and to become a child of God.

We are learning how to apply Knowledge. 
“Why did you learn this?” To show that I understand the content, and can record my understanding in an interesting way. 

For this Specific task I read and collected information witch lead me to further research aspects that i was unsure of in support of my understanding and i also created an information slide
I enjoyed researching facts about my least favorite animal.

Summary has to bee amazing

 In my reading group we have been learning how to summarise using 6 words. “What is summarising?” Summarising is a quick version of that story Relating all the topics but using your own words and making it shorter.
My reading group and I had to make a short story using words from a story so we basically recreated the story that we had just read. We picked 20 key words from the story we read and proceeded to get 6 important words from the 20 keywords.
Learning how to summarise was really interesting. It was hard at first but then I started to understand more about what we were doing. Definitely finding the keywords were the hardest part of this task

For reading we have been learning all about japan and its culture. We used what we had learnt in my class and I each had individual slides and added what we had learned into those slides.
Once we chose what slides we wanted to do we deleted the rest. 4-6 slides we had to choose a subject such as, Food, Sports, animals. 
I really enjoyed learning about Japan and their culture. It was very interesting as well.

Olympic education

 For week one we were learning how to skim and scan. (Research) information. I learnt things about the Olympics that I have never known before. For our task my class had to read books regarding the topic olympics. (Skim and scan for important words) we then made a slideshow on the ancient olympics, mascots, opening ceremony and finally, just olympic facts. This task was honestly challenging. Finding the information was the hardest part for me.

Would you ever think about going to the Olympics when you're older?

The Water Rocket

I think that the rocket will shoot into the air because the air needs to escape. 

Have you ever heard of a aqua pod? 

A aqua pod is orange looking launch pad and is used to launch bottles in the air it also has three legs on the bottom and a flappy part theres string connected to the flappy part.

 First you fill up the bottle with about 1/3 of water you have to flip the aqua pod upside down so you can attatch the water bottle to a valve thats almost in the middle of the aqua pod 

secondly you have to connect the pump to another valve at the end of the aqua pod to pump air in the bottle you have to stand on the pump 8-12 times to fill the bottle of water with air as you add more pumps of air into the bottle, the air starts to compress and more and more particals start forming

Lastly pull the sting and the flappy part on the aqua pod will hit the thing that the bottle is attachted to and the bottle comes flying off it will go so high it disappeares out of sight

This Science expermement is a reccomend.

 

The Amazing Imagination Story

Week 2 Term 1, we got to use our imagination in writing, my group's focus was to describe using our senses. Our teacher Miss Hickling gave us an example on the Tv screen, it was of an island. We had to describe what we felt using that picture she had given us, but we couldn't use past tense. I definitely learnt a lot. Writing is good because it helps me with my grammar and spelling. Great day at the island

The smell of salty water calms me down.

The sparkling blue water is as clear as day. I watch the water slowly ripple and the breeze sway the vibrant trees.

I sat there as the birds chirp. The waves started crashing; it keeps getting heavier and heavier. 

I feel relaxed. I start walking towards the water, I dip my feet one by one into the dark blue ocean. It was freezing.

I looked back at the trees and I saw one fresh coconut. As I crack the coconut open, coconut water started pouring out. It was refreshing

Science Adventures

We have been trying to find out if oil would mix with water. Our student teacher Koka Kalo gave our class instructions on how to do the experiment. Before the class did the experiment we had to write what we thought was going to happen when we do the experiment. It was amusing to watch but I already knew what was gonna happen. Have you ever tried this experiment?

Sign language journey.

 In week 2 we started learning about sign language(Because it was sign language week) , We started learning to sign our names and my teacher Miss Hickling realised we were on assembly and that we should sign our names at the very end of the assembly we learnt this because of sign language week i've always wanted to learn sign language. My learning went well, I learnt a lot of new things and I really enjoyed learning some sign language. Do you know sign language?

The amazing covenant

Week 3-4, For religious education We learnt about what a covenant is, we got into a group of 3. My group was Zara, Unaise and myself, Us 3 created a slide showing what a covenant is.

My learning went great, I learnt a lot of new things.

Gods story Abraham and Sarah

Last week our teacher taught us about Abraham and Sarah. Basically the whole week was filled with learning about Abraham and Sarah. She had asked the class to do a roleplay. I was the narrator so I wasn't in it. We had to get into a team of three. In my team there was Me, Unaise, Paula and Mikaela but I was absent.

Abraham and Sarah were a old  couple in Canaan, they wanted kids but Sarah wasn't able to have any children.On one evening God appeared out of thin air and said "If you believe and travel i will give you babies" Abraham and Sarah laughed but they had belief in god they lived in Ur before walking too Canaan they waited and waited a year pasted Abraham and Sarah we're getting inpatient but they stuck by God's word it pasted Abrahams 100 birthday a year later Sarah found out she was pregnant and they had many more babies

POSTCARD ww1

 Week 1 term 2 our teacher finished reading us a book abput ww1, because we had read the book we did something simillar we had done the post card acting like someone and a note that we would send to someone.

Past, present, Future.

On tuesday one of my teachers (Miss torrie) she put old time objects into the slide, we had to find the items the same as that but in the new days. this was easy it took me around 5 minutes.

My Messy bedroom writing

Our teacher at the start of the week asked us to do a piece of writing (Like every other week)

This week it was of our bedroom, i loved this subject because it was easy for me to write since its my bedroom. We described the smell, what we could hear, what we could see and how we feel inside.

 My Messy Bedroom

My room is my space. The smell of my room when you walk in is of berries. It looks messy with clothes on the floor. “I should probably pick those up.” I think to myself.

My fuzzy bed feels so warm, until I take my blanket off, my room is stone cold. I bury my head back into my soft pillows. It is so difficult to get out of bed.

My whanau thinks my room is messy. “This room is so messy!” My Mum says whilst scrunching her face. I love to play relaxing music in my room.

My room is cramped but it works. It's my safe space where I can do whatever I want. Maybe I should clean it.

Besides my room feeling like I'm in a freezer in the morning. I love my room.

It makes me feel safe.

Mothers day Gift

 Wednesday Afternoon our teacher had informed us that mothers' day was This sunday coming up. She had looked online and found a Mothers' Day card that we could do, You need a skewer, string, Pencil, paper heart and a Black card or any colour of your liking.

We cut out a heart from a piece of paper we placed it on the front of the card and traced around it with a pencil make sure not to move the paper whilst your tracing it otherwise it won't look as good after that we got a skewer and we poked holes around the hear we just traced, we poked them about 2 joined fingers away from each other we did 2 arm lengths of string, we attached the string to the none pointy end of the skewer the other end of the string that WASN'T on the none pointy we tied into a knot

. We started from the bottom middle Underneath, then over to the top middle through the top we. We made sure we only did ONE string straight that was the middle ones. 

Horouta story

 We had to remake the horouta waka story on slides, we made a little animation with the waka and the kumara on the waka, the animaton was easy to make we just just used some tools to group the kumara and the waka together so that it woud be easier to make the animation. 

Goal Setting

For this week we had to do our goal setting, All of what i want to achive this year is in this goal setting.

This was easy to make because our teacher made the layout we wrote it and had to get our parents to sign it.

Holy week

 Maybe alot of weeks ago, It was holy week we had to make a wreath it conculed things about what happened with jesus please enjoyn i also did a flipgrid

Hot cross bun making.

 On Friday Our teacher let us make a GIANT hot cross bun I did the giant cross at the end, It was difficult Because i had to do it in the bread maker. We used a bread maker instead of an oven, the whole school did hot cross buns we got to choose butter or jam or even both! Here are what the hotcross bun is made of

• sure bake yeast

• Edmonds high grade flour
• edmonds wholemeal flour
• oil(light olive  or canola
• water (Room temperature
• 1 egg
• citrus rind (Optional)

Whale art!

About 2 weeks ago our teacher had let us do some whale art witch is bacially dye. We had a practice sheet and drawed our  sketch on the practice paper  and we even DYED the practice paper to get our colours we wanted, we used black sharpie for the lines on the whale stomatch, we used white paint for the little dots on his head.
This was difficult in some sort of way, i kept doing the head to big.

basics of treaty waitangi facts.

Today in Class I was learning about treaty of waitangi and wrote down 10 facts about we learnt this because learn.create.share We learn about it we create we research we write the treaty of waitangi is important because it helps show respect. and helps mend others friendships. I found it hard because you had to research the teacher gave us 2-4ish videos why i found it hard is because you have to listen to the videos carfully to find facts, what id do differently next time is maybe take less of a time customizing and more focusing on the facts.
